The Phuket Vegetarian Festival 2026, also known as the Nine Emperor Gods Festival, is one of Phuket’s most distinctive and fascinating cultural celebrations. Rooted in the island’s Chinese-Thai heritage, the nine-day festival brings Phuket’s streets and Chinese shrines to life with sacred ceremonies, colourful processions, traditional rituals, and an abundance of vegetarian food.

The festival officially begins with the Go Teng Pole Raising Ceremony on October 9, followed by nine days of religious observances and traditional activities at Chinese shrines across Phuket. During the festival, devotees follow a strict vegetarian diet as part of a period of spiritual purification, while spectacular processions take place throughout the island.
